CHICKEN Inn head coach Joey Antipas and his CAPS United counterpart Lloyd Chitembwe have been summoned to appear before the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) Disciplinary Committee, following  comments they made about match officials.

Antipas was left fuming after their 1-0 loss to Manica Diamonds. The Gamecocks protested the goal by Manica Diamonds’ Michael Tapera that came deep into the second-half.

Chicken Inn kit manager Guide Goddard was shown a red card for protesting by referee Lawrence Zimondi.

Chitembwe was also left furious when their striker Ralph Kawondera found the back of the net with a spectacular curling effort in the 86th minute.

However, the Green Machine’s celebrations were cut short after assistant referee Mncedisi Maphosa raised his flag to signal offside.

Maphosa has received the nod from the referees’ body who say his call was correct.

Makepekepe were trailing FC Platinum 0-1 at the time the match was called off after Juan Mutudza had struck for the hosts in the first-half.

Chitembwe blasted the standard of officiating in the local elite football league saying the country’s topflight league has now been reduced to a comic show.

In a statement yesterday, PSL communications and media liaison officer Kudzai Bare said: “The Premier Soccer League has summoned CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe and Chicken Inn coach Joseph Antipas to appear before the PSL Disciplinary Committee for alleged breaches of the PSL rules and regulations.”

She added: “The summoning of the two coaches comes in response to statements they made which are deemed to bring the league into disrepute.

Such actions are in violation of the PSL rules and regulations.

Lloyd Chitembwe is scheduled to appear before the Disciplinary Committee on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 while Joseph Antipas’ disciplinary hearing is on Thursday, April 25, 2024.”
