RAPPER ASAPH is excited at the prospect of sharing the stage with South Africa’s hip hop artiste Okmalumkoolkat in Bulawayo this weekend saying it’s an opportunity to celebrate the genre and perform his new track Good Times.

Asaph will share the stage with KoolKat alongside songbird Berita at the final phase of the Beer Marathon at Hartfield Tshisanyama on Saturday afternoon.

During the past three weeks, there have been warm up parties at Zarah Lounge and Crystal Lounge.

Asaph, who has for the better part of this year been riding on his hit track Mambo, said: “I’m mad hyped about doing this show with KoolKat as he’s a legend and very influential to the Hip-hop culture of Southern Africa.

“I’m using this as a moment to celebrate Hip Hop and the power it has because KoolKat has a huge following in this city.”

He said this show was another feather in his cap this year.

“2018 has been good to me. Sharing the stage with KoolKat adds another accolade to my career as I’ve been on the biggest stages in the country – Shoko Festival, Unplugged Zim and now the Beer Marathon with KoolKat, a living legend,” said Asaph.

Organiser of the show, Andile Phiri, said the Gqi hit-maker and Berita will jet into the country on Saturday afternoon.

He said all was in place for the event with four teams set to participate in beer drinking games.

“On the penultimate day, there’ll be a drinking games lounge where four teams will participate at Hartsfield Tshisanyama. One team will comprise radio personalities from Skyz Metro FM and the others – musicians, socialites and models.

“They’ll play shot relay, beer pong, mabhija and foosball.”

Those attending the beer marathon will be allowed to bring their cooler boxes, but only from 2PM to 3PM and $20 will be charged.

Advance tickets are already available at Zarah Lounge with ordinary tickets going for USD$15/R200 for two and $25/R350 for single VIP tickets.

“For those who have bond, EcoCash and swipe, it’ll cost 22 bond for two people and 35 bond for a single VIP ticket,” Phiri said.
