WHAT happens when eight of the hottest artistes in the world collaborate for a remix? Stakes start getting higher and careers blossom. One such career is that of Germany-based Nkayi-born female rapper Awa Khiwe.
Zimbabwe has once again raised its hand when it matters most with hip-hop goddess Awa Khiwe featuring on Berlin-based dancehall and hip-hop musician, Peter Fox’s remade song, “Zukunft Pink Alliance RMX” which premiered online last week.
The original song, Zukunft Pink was released in October and its remix amassed over 28 000 views on Twitter within 24 hours of premiering.
The song has all the markings of being a global banger and Awa Khiwe’s verse in IsiNdebele cements her legacy as one of the finest female emcees to come from Bulawayo.
The award-winning “Ngeke Bengimele” hit-maker posted on social media that recording the song was a blast.
“I enjoyed throwing in some Ndebele bars. It’s the clicks for me. Every good song needs a remix. That’s why I am so over the moon to be part of the remix,” posted Awa Khiwe.
Awa Khiwe’s career has been on a trajectory lately after she became the first female hip hop artiste to clinch the Roil Bulawayo Arts Awards (BAA) Outstanding Hip Hop artiste award last year. – @eMKlass_49
