ZANU-PF Second Secretary Cde Kembo Mohadi has urged Zimbabweans to be wary of non-government organisations (NGOs) which are bent on pushing a regime change agenda under the guise of providing assistance.

He made the remarks while addressing traditional leaders and members of the Zanu-PF Kwekwe District Co-ordinating Committee (DCC) in Kwekwe yesterday.

Cde Mohadi said the NGOs were riding on the climate change-induced hunger especially in the rural areas to push their agenda to reverse the gains of the armed struggle.

“We have to be very careful when dealing  with some of these NGOs who come in the name of helping yet they want your land. We have more than 3 000 NGOs and they are commiserating on behalf of the Western countries. 

“They come as if they want to help and then the next thing, they are preaching the gospel of change to you,” he said.

He said the Government and the ruling party remain committed to ensuring that no one suffers from the effects of climate change which resulted in a distorted rainfall pattern during the 2021/22 farming season rendering the bulk of the crop a write off.

“This is the reason why President Emmerson Mnangagwa is revitalising irrigation schemes and constructing dams so that no Zimbabwean will feel the impact of climate change and ensure that the country is food secure. The Government is moving to ensure that everyone is safe,” he said.

Cde Mohadi implored the traditional leadership to work with the ruling party to preserve the gains of the liberation struggle and drum up support for President Mnangagwa ahead of the 3023 elections.

“President Mnangagwa wants the traditional leaders to work together with their DCC and I was tasked with ensuring that this is happening as well as to grow the party. I was tasked to unite the people as we draw near to the election,” he said.

Cde Mohadi denounced factionalism within the ruling party saying all people belong to Zanu-PF, not individuals.

“I am aware of the factionalism in this province and such people want to destroy the party from within. That should stop and I am glad I am told that they recently smoked the peace pipe. 

“Let me reiterate that there is no individual who owns any people, all people belong to Zanu-PF by virtue of enrolling. You pledge allegiance to Zanu-PF, not individuals,” he said.

Kwekwe DCC Secretary for Administration, Cde Assam Musa said the district was assisting in acquiring documents like birth certificates and national identification for members so that they face no challenges in registering to vote.

He said NGOs were being used to spread the regime change agenda especially in the rural wards.

“We have a problem with some NGOs that have stopped their mandate and are now pushing an agenda especially in the rural wards. They have programmes that they use to infiltrate the rural folk and try to persuade them, ” he said.

Cde Musa pledged to work with the traditional leadership and help contribute towards nation building.
