ALTHOUGH Orlando Pirates striker Tendai Ndoro has struggled to establish himself in the team, the club is determined to keep him. Ndoro appears to be behind the likes of Kermit Erasmus, Thamsanqa Gabuza and Lehlohonolo Majoro in the pecking order for coach Eric Tinkler. Due to the lack of game time, the 27-year-old has been linked with a move away from the club, but a source has revealed that Pirates want to retain the striker as they believe he just needs to bide his time and work hard to secure a first team place.

“It’s true Tendai is frustrated at not playing, but he has been advised to be patient,” the source said. “He has been told that Gabuza was in the same situation but never gave up and is now doing well for both club and Bafana Bafana.

“They won’t be loaning him out because they want him to fight for his place in the team,” the source said. The Zimbabwe international has also revealed that he isn’t ready to throw in the towel and highlights patience as the key to fighting for his place in the team.

“I know it’s tough to break into the starting line-up at Orlando Pirates. The calibre of our strikers is high-level and they’ve been doing well,” Ndoro said. Despite starting only two league games this season, the Zimbabwean has shown his scoring form in friendly games.

“I have been playing in friendly games and things are looking positive. I will be patient and continue to fight. When my chance comes, I will grab it with both hands.” the former Mpumalanga Black Aces striker said. – Laduma
