Bulawayo City sink deeper Bekithemba Ndlovu

THERE seems to be no solution in sight for Bulawayo City FC as they continue to sink deeper into the Castle Lager Premiership relegation mud after recording their sixth-consecutive defeat in Saturday’s 1-2 loss to Dynamos.

With just nine games left before the season ends, it looks like the gods have turned their backs on Bulawayo City, who are second from the bottom of the table with 15 points from 25 games.

Acting Bulawayo City coach, Bekithemba Ndlovu, put on a brave face after Saturday’s defeat which left his players clearly dejected after a solid performance.

“We are still in it; we haven’t given up the fight. We just need one win to boost our confidence going into the other games. Hopefully, in our next league game we’ll get there. Performance wise the boys are doing well, improving with every game, but we are not winning,” said Ndlovu.

It will be a mammoth assignment for Ndlovu to get Bulawayo City out of the relegation hellhole. They last won a match on June 16, a 1-0 win over Mutare City Rovers at Barbourfields Stadium.

Bulawayo City are winless in seven games in the second half of the season, which include six consecutive defeats. They only collected a single point from a 1-1 draw with Harare City.

Ndlovu has lost all the five games he has been in charge of since taking over from the sacked Amini Soma-Phiri in July.

Bulawayo City’s next league game is away to Nichrut, who are also fighting for survival and have better chances of escaping the chop than the local authority bankrolled side. Nichrut are fourth from the bottom with 24 points and lost 2-1 to Caps United on Sunday.

After the Nichrut game, Bulawayo City will then face Chicken Inn at home before travelling to Zvishavane to face bottom side, Shabanie Mine.

Bulawayo City’s road to survival will also need them to jump the Ngezi Platinum Stars, Highlanders, ZPC Kariba, Caps United, Mutare City and Yadah hurdles.
