A 47-YEAR-OLD Mangwe man ran amok and beat up his wife before locking her and their nine-year-old daughter out of the house through the night after she claimed maintenance for their four children.Sea to Sea Ncube, who is the chairperson of Mangwe Miners Association and owner of Zamazama General Dealer, appeared before Plumtree magistrate, Gideon Ruvetsa facing charges of assault.

The prominent businessman in Mangwe was allegedly neglecting his four children.

Ncube was served with maintenance papers from the court on March 29 after his wife Elizabeth Mhlanga approached the court.
A fuming Ncube proceeded home where he found his wife cooking and he kicked away the pots that were on the fire.

He threw the papers at his wife who was in the company of her nine-year-old daughter and then punched her several times all over the body and dragged her out of the house in the middle of the night.

Ncube also ordered his daughter to go out of the house and he locked them out leaving them to spend the night outside.
In passing sentence Ruvetsa chided Ncube for being heartless.

“Your actions show that you are heartless man. How could you allow your own  nine-year-old daughter to sleep in the bush when she was innocent. In cases where parents have disputes they should not drag their children into them. Solve your differences with your spouse and leave your children in peace.

“If you are not a fan of maintenance papers then I suggest that you fulfill your role of fending for your family,” said Ruvetsa.
He ordered Ncube to pay $100 or spend 30 days in prison in case of default.

In her statement in court, the complainant told the magistrate that she spent the whole night outside with her daughter.

Prosecuting Medica Tshuma said: “Ncube was issued with maintenance papers from court and this did not go down well with him. He proceeded home where he beat up his wife and chased her out of the house.”
