Cranborne Bullets .0 – 0 Bulawayo Chiefs
CRANBORNE Bullets coach, Nesbert Saruchera, and his Bulawayo Chiefs counterpart Nilton Terroso agreed a draw was the fairest result in this Castle Lager Premier Soccer League tie, at the National Sports Stadium, yesterday.

Terroso was celebrating a fourth point, in two games, from which his team hasn’t conceded a goal.

Saruchera’s newcomers picked their first top-flight point, after falling, in the opener.

The hosts bombarded their guests in the opening moments and they should have taken advantage of some sloppy play from the Bulawayo team.

The army side were all over the visitors with striker Everson Feremba coming close to breaching the Chiefs, wall on the quarter hour mark, but his firm header crashed against the crossbar.

They continued to ask questions, throughout the half, but the Ben Nyahunzvi-marshalled defence couldn’t give in.
Tapiwa Sibanda, Tinotenda Meke and captain Wonder Kapinda had some fine opportunities.

The second period was in sharp contrast to the first, with Bulawayo Chiefs dominating, in all aspects of the game.
But, like their opponents, they couldn’t work out a solid formula to breach the Bullets defence.

Hughe Chikosa, Billy Veremu and Mthokozisi Msebe all came close but they couldn’t beat Bullets goalkeeper, Tatenda Makoni.

“When you look at it, we had about four good chances to bury in the first half but unfortunately we didn’t,” said Saruchera.

“But, we are a young team, which is still new in the top-flight league, and picking a point is a sign of progress.

“We will keep on working hard, going forward, and see what happens.”

For the Portuguese gaffer Terroso, drawing against a team which defies the odds in the Chibuku Super Cup, after reaching the semis, is not that bad.

“On our part, I think it’s positive that we have kept our second clean sheet.

“I think it’s not going to be easy for any team to come here and get away with the points.

“They are a team that have shown that they are good.”
