THE battle to control Chiredzi FC yesterday took another twist with Moses Chunga filing a notice of opposition in which he claims to be the director, owner and founder of the newly promoted side. Two weeks ago Chunga was served with an interdict by the Charles Muchatukwa-led executive barring him from interfering with the team’s operations as they accused him of misrepresenting to the Premier Soccer League that he was the owner of the club.

Chunga was also accused of misappropriating $4,000 realised during the match against Dynamos and also influencing a players revolt.

Chunga was served with the interdict on the eve of the match against Harare City and as such could not sit on the technical bench.Tinashe Zishiri and Dzingai Murinye acted as co-coaches.

Chunga however refused with the players’ licences and jerseys which forced the match kick off to be delayed by 30 minutes as match officials had to organise a photo shoot first.

Chunga through his lawyer Wellington Muzenda of Muzenda and Chitsama Attorneys opposed the interdict pleading with the court to dismiss the matter.

He said Muchatukwa was answerable to him as he was the owner, founder and director of the club.

Bambo said Muchatukwa acted on his behalf when he received the donation of the Hippo Valley franchise which was donated to Chiredzi Football Club.

He said the team was not a community team as was being alleged.
