Cops launch manhunt for parked car thief

POLICE in Bulawayo have launched a manhunt for a suspect who allegedly broke into a parked vehicle and stole a satchel containing R65 000 and US$120 in the central business district (CBD). 

A passport, driver’s licence, one pair of shoes, green overall, navy-blue trousers and a white T-shirt were also in the stolen bag.  Bulawayo acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident which occurred on Sunday afternoon.

She said the suspect is alleged to have broken into the vehicle that was parked along Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Street between 5th and 6th Avenue using an unknown object before stealing the bag from the car belonging to Mr Felix Mukama (26).

Mr Mukama had gone into a supermarket when the incident occurred. “Police in Bulawayo are appealing to members of the public for information that may assist in the location of an unknown suspect wanted for stealing a black satchel with cash amounting to R65 000 and US$120 from a parked motor vehicle in the CBD. The bag also contained a Zimbabwe passport, Zimbabwe driver’s licence, one pair of black size eight shoes, green overall, navy-blue trousers and a white T-shirt,” said Asst Insp Msebele. 

She said the complainant parked his white Toyota Quantum at around 2.20PM leaving the windows and doors locked before going into a nearby supermarket. “At around 3.20PM on the same day the complainant came out from the supermarket and proceeded to his car. He opened the car and upon checking he discovered that his black satchel containing cash and other valuables had been stolen,.
