A Victoria Falls magistrate has ordered a 46-year-old man to vacate his place of residence until  the case in which he is accused of indecently assaulting his co-tenant’s 16-year-old daughter, has been finalised.

The man whose name has been withheld to protect the minor’s identity and the girl’s parents are tenants at the same house in Aerodrome suburb.

The accused was not asked to plead to indecent assault charges when he appeared before Victoria Falls magistrate Ms Lungile Maphosa.

He was released on $50 bail and will next appear in court on January 8.The magistrate instructed the alleged abuser not to interfere with witnesses and ordered him to move out of the house immediately.

Prosecuting, Mr Listen Nare said the alleged assault took place on Boxing Day in the morning.

“The accused knocked at the complainant’s door on the 26th of December and told her that someone was looking for her grandmother. While the complainant was walking in the passage on her way to attend to the visitor, the accused followed her and  allegedly fondled her breasts and buttocks, said Mr Nare.

The court heard that the teenage girl, freed herself and dashed to her room and locked herself inside. She allegedly phoned her grandmother who was not at home and told her about what had happened.

A report was made to the police leading to the man’s arrest.—@nonsy_m
