ACTION resumes in the Zifa Central Soccer League (CSL) this weekend after a two-week break.

Perhaps the biggest beneficiary of the break is prisons and correctional services outfit, Whawha which was awarded three points of the abandoned match with Chrome Stars.

The match was abandoned in the 88th minute after Chrome Stars walked off the pitch in protest over a penalty which had been awarded to Chekera Pasi.

Chrome Stars was also fined $500.

The ruling leaves Whawha just a point adrift of log leaders Nichrut who top the table with 38 points.

Whawha was also found on the wrong side of the law for pitch invasion and manhandling match officials in their game against MSU which ended in a 0 – 0 draw.

The prisons and correctional services side were fined for the offence.

Meanwhile, action kicks off with uncertainty over some of the games after the league issued an ultimatum to former Premiership side Border Strikers, ZRP Gwanda and Kwekwe Stars to settle their outstanding affiliation fees by Thursday or risk suspension.

Already Gwanda United has been kicked out of the league after failing to fulfil three consecutive away fixtures.

CSL chairman Stanley Chapeta said the league was verifying with the bank if the affected clubs had settled their affiliation fees and those who were yet to pay will not be allowed to play.

“We will check with the bank this afternoon (yesterday) and clubs who would not have paid will not be allowed to play because that is what was agreed at the midseason review meeting,” said Chapeta.

The pick of this weekend’s fixtures is the reverse fixture pitting log leaders Nichrut and TelOne at Wilson Fields. Nichrut won 2 – 0 at Peak Stadium but TelOne coach Jeremiah Neganda vowed to revenge the defeat.

“It was a learning curve for us at Peak Mine and we saw how they play. I do not think they will beat us when they come to face us at Wilson Fields. We are prepared for them and I am confident that we will post a positive result,” said Neganda.

His counterpart John Nyikadzino was confident of claiming a double over the Wi-Fi Boys saying he would want to maintain consistency.
