CZI honours top performing companies Minister Nqobizita Mangaliso Ndlovu

A TOTAL of 13 companies scooped awards of excellence at the recent 2018 Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) congress that was held in Bulawayo.

There were four broad categories of winners identified on the basis of local raw material sourcing, promoting local content and growth despite difficult economic conditions. The energy efficiency award was distributed among Matabeleland, Manicaland, Mashonaland chambers with one at national level. In the Matabeleland chamber, Turnall was the first runner up while Delta Chibuku Fairbridge was the winner.

In the Manicaland chamber, the energy efficiency award went to Manica Boards and Doors while the first runner up was Sheba Sawmill and the second runner up was Triangle. In the Mashonaland chamber Mega Pack won the energy efficiency prize.

Turnall also scooped the national level prize. Giant wholesaler, N Richards, won first prize in the lean award category of supporting local products. The top exporter of the year award went to Tanganda Tea while Zimplow and Paramount Exports became second and first runner up respectively.

The fourth prize, the CZI listed company of the year, was given to Proplastics and the first runner-up was Art Corporation and Seed Co was second runner-up. Proplastics Company showed significant growth between 2015 and 2017.

Industry and Commerce Minister Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndlovu was the guest of honour at the event that was held last Thursday evening. The recent congress ran under the theme, “It’s time to act, from dialogue to implementation”. — @queentauruszw
