AWARD-winning hip hop star Cal_Vin has been appointed by Delta Corporation as a peer educator.

His role will be to discourage teenagers from drinking through the company”s Pledge 18 campaign which was launched recently.

That Luveve Boy, as Cal_Vin is known by his fans will execute his first duties tomorrow when he performs at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Delta Corporation stand.

Delta Corporation corporate affairs manager Tsungie Manyeza said: “We want to use the country’s role models to discourage teenagers from drinking and Cal_Vin is one of them. He’ll be urging youths to abstain from alcohol until they’re above 18 years. We’d like youths to delay their initiation to alcohol and be able to do so when they’re actually responsible so it’s a catch them young activity”.

The Zikhuphani hit-maker said he was against underage drinking as it had bad effects on the youth.

“I’ve young fans and it’s very important that they don’t start drinking before they turn 18. Young boys can get into fights that will ruin their future while young girls can get drunk and get raped or fall pregnant because of drinking under age,” said Cal_Vin.

He was grateful to Delta for giving him an opportunity to inspire youths saying he hoped more corporates will believe in him. “I’m happy that a corporate has approached me to do something like this. Maybe this is the birth of bigger things to come between me and the company,” he said.
