Don’t despair, Dhewa tells fans

of this month.
“The doctors have started the process (treatment) and I am happy to say that I feel much better now.
“Once we are through with the process of administering the medication I will be back on my feet again thanks to the doctors and the Minister (Webster Shamu) for the support. As of now, people should just wish me well.”
When The Herald visited him at St Annes Hospital in Harare yesterday, Dhewa looked well and chatted with relatives and friends on his mobile phone.
“I think I worked a lot without giving myself enough time to rest.
“That alone strained my health because I worked harder than what I was supposed to and there was a lot of stress that came with it.
“My wish was to look after my family as well as the band.
“However, I can now have time to rest since all that is being taken care off by the Minister and other well-wishers who are giving their contributions towards the upkeep of my family.
The stress is gone and I can now focus on getting better,” he said.
He commended Minister Shamu, who is also the patron of the Zimbabwe Union of Musicians and well-wishers for their unwavering support during his time of need.
By late last night donations continued pouring in for the ailing musician who is undergoing treatment after his health deteriorated late last week.
Close to US$11 000 had been raised towards Dhewa’s treatment with Zimpapers chairman Dr Paul Chimedza spearheading the fundraising campaign.
Said Minister Shamu: “We would like to urge other stakeholders to emulate the good gesture that these well-wishers have shown in an effort to assist musician Tongai Moyo.”
He commended Dr Chimedza for spearheading the fundraising campaign saying the money raised so far should make a big difference in Dhewa’s health and ensure that he fully recovers.
The full list of the stakeholders who donated towards assisting Dhewa include Premier Services Medical Investments who donated US$2 800, businessman Esau Mupfumi (US$2 000), Harare businessman Mr Philip Chiyangwa and his wife (US$1 000), Zimpapers (US$1 000) while the rest of the amount came from anonymous donors.
