Dynamos’ rookie

Both the champions Motor Action and runners-up Dynamos retained the bulk of the players who made it to the photo-finish of Africa’s 12th best-ranked soccer league.
But it is their choice of the players added on to fortify the respective teams in the African safari that has raised a lot of eyebrows.

Dynamos registered Kiglon players Devon Chafa and Denver Mukamba plus long-time target Farai Vimisayi from Hwange to bolster their toothless attack, which first lost Cuthbert Malajila to North Africa in the second half of last season and then Dylan Chivandire to Gaborone United last month. In the closing stages DeMbare were forced to convert winger Benjamin Marere into an outright striker while occasionally throwing in the inconsistent Evans Gwekwerere who often let off-field events influence his performances.

“For a team that is battling to regain lost pride, Dynamos were supposed to go for the best strikers available in the country like Norman Maroto, Gilbert Mushangazhike, Simba Sithole and Kudakwashe Musharu,” commented one coach who declined to be named.

“I wonder how players from a struggling team like Kiglon can lift a team like Dynamos. This is a repeat of the past when players with no hunger for success were brought into Dynamos and up to now there is no fighting spirit in the team,” saidMpalula Malosi, a staunch DeMbare supporter based in Glen Norah. Among other talking points is the inclusion of young and unheralded defender Dragan Shuva. Just who is this Dragan Shuva? -Sunday Mail Sports
