Eight more people succumb to COVID-19

EIGHT more people have succumbed to Covid-19 in Zimbabwe while 114 tested positive to the global pandemic in the last 24 hours.

The new cases bring the total number of cases to 13 077 since the outbreak of Covid-19 in March this year.

In its daily Covid-19 update, the Ministry of Health and Child Care said the eight new deaths were recorded in Harare province and occurred over the last eight days.

The Ministry also said the 144 new cases were recorded amongst locals after 1 015 PRC tests were conducted countrywide in the last 24 hours.

Of the new cases, 23 were recorded in Matabeleland South, 21 in Bulawayo, 46 in Manicaland, 12 in Masvingo and six in Mashonaland Central.

The other four cases were recorded in Mashonaland East while two were recorded in Matabeleland North province.

“We recorded eight deaths all from Harare province and 114 new cases in the last 24 hours. As at 27 December 2020, Zimbabwe had 13 077 confirmed cases, including 10 593 recoveries and 349 deaths,” said the Ministry.
