Entertainment galore for Youth Games shutdown

HWANGE has never been this entertaining! It has been a week of hard play and competition at this year’s national youth games and after all the sweat, athletes, officials and sport tourists have to wind down and party as the games draw to a close this weekend.

A full entertainment package has been lined up in most leading entertainment joints around the coal mining town.

For a usually quiet town, the past days changed the nightlife in what could remain a legacy for years. Culminating in the youth games closure, most pubs, eateries, lodges and hotels accommodated the thousands of visitors that thronged the resort town.

Today, the doors are open to all of legal age to party. For those that love a chilled environment, the first port of call is the Hwange Colliery Bowling Club.

The joint owned by Hwange Colliery Company has appropriate facilities to entertain visitors. This is one place for the mature who want to enjoy soothing music and unwind at a braai area overlooking the lush greens of the bowling sport. Having recently been refurbished, the Bowling Club is sure not to disappoint.

Just up the hill at Baobab Hotel, another youth games show is on. Run by enterprising entrepreneurs in Hwange, the party at the hotel started yesterday and will end on Sunday.

According to one of the businessmen in charge of the show, an all-encompassing youth games shutdown party is on the cards.

“We’re inviting everyone to attend the massive farewell party for the games. This is one way of saying thank you to the visitors who graced our small town during the past week. Fireworks and hard partying is what we’ll deliver.”

A mega send off party is also on at GVZ Leisure Centre — a hideout spacious joint just about 10 minutes from the Hwange central business district. A surprise package awaits all those who would want to visit the place. GVZ Leisure Centre has been home to many singers and performers including urban grooves gurus Maskiri and Roki and sungura maestro Nicholas “Madzibaba” Zacharia.
