an epileptic attack while fishing in Sikhoveni Dam last Wednesday.
It is understood that Forget Ndlovu’s body was only discovered on Friday by another fisherman.
Acting police spokesperson for Matabeleland South, Sergeant Thabani Mkhwananzi, said yesterday they were still carrying out investigations.
He said, “The mother of the now deceased left the boy asleep at home and went to fetch water.
“On returning she discovered that her son was not at home. Upon carrying out some investigations, she found out that the juvenile had gone to Sikhoveni Dam where he found two men fishing.
“He asked for a fishing rod from one of them and started fishing. The two men later went away and left him behind.
“We suspect that during that period he had an epileptic attack resulting in him drowning in the dam.”
He said another fisherman discovered the body floating in the dam on Friday afternoon.
The man made a police report and they retrieved the body.
Sgt Mkhwananzi said the body was taken to Gwanda Provincial Hospital mortuary and a post-mortem was waived by the local magistrate since police suspect no foul play.
“As police we urge parents to be on the lookout for their children,” he said.
