Prophet Walter Magaya

Fidelis Munyoro Harare Bureau
PROPHETIC Healing and Deliverance Ministries leader “Prophet” Walter Magaya was allegedly head over heels in love with Denford Chimutashu’s wife such that at one time he sent her saucy text messages almost every minute, describing her as sexually attractive and highly mobile.

He also allegedly bought Chimutashu’s wife Nomsa Chimutashu nee Ruvazhe the latest version of a Toyota Mark II, which cost $10,000.

Chimutashu filed a $500,000 adultery claim against “Prophet” Magaya at the High Court in Harare yesterday which revealed how the two allegedly communicated and the type of raunchy text messages they sent to each other.

“The affair between the two grew to the extent that the defendant (Prophet Magaya) would exchange text love messages with the plaintiff’s (Mr Chimutashu) wife of more than 13 messages within 20 minutes and the plaintiff’s wife would hide the messages and all communication between herself and the defendant,” said Chimutashu in the summons filed by his lawyer  Norman Mugiya.

Chimutashu is demanding $250,000 for loss of affection and another $250,000 for loss of contumelia.

According to the claim, Chimutashu is married to Nomsa in terms of Marriage Act Chapter 5:11 and the marriage still subsists.

It is alleged that sometime in June this year, “Prophet” Magaya had an adulterous affair with Chimutashu who had gone to PHD Ministries Church in Waterfalls to worship. While at the church, “Prophet” Magaya allegedly ordered Chimutashu’s wife to stay at one of the church’s lodges for three consecutive days without Chimutashu’s knowledge and consent.

After spirited efforts to locate his wife, Chimutashu found her with Magaya who allegedly claimed that he had been spiritually assisting her.

“However, from the day that the plaintiff’s wife left her matrimonial home, she has been very aggressive and rude to the plaintiff who is her husband and she told the plaintiff that she was better off with the defendant than her lawful husband,” said Mugiya.

“The adulterous affair has been going on for some time and the plaintiff is in possession of love text messages which were sent by the defendant to the plaintiff’s wife, including a print out of the phone call history which shows the frequency of communication.”

Mugiya further stated that after Chimutashu discovered that  Magaya was committing adultery with his wife, he confronted the man of God who allegedly admitted to having the romantic relationship.

Mugiya said Magaya promised to terminate the affair, but to date he was still exchanging text messages with Nomsa through his close associates whom he treats as counsellors and bodyguards.

According to the declaration, Mugiya made claims that in July this year when Magaya went to South Africa, he kept on exchanging love text messages and phoning Nomsa using South African mobile numbers.

At times, the lawyer said, Magaya would phone Nomsa during odd hours.

Mugiya said when Magaya was confronted over the allegations he did not deny them, but discussed the issue with Chimutashu in one of the meetings in an attempt to resolve the matter.

He said that the illicit affair between  Magaya and Nomsa disturbed Chimutashu to the extent that he was bedridden due to stress.

Mugiya said the conduct of Magaya caused Chimutashu a heart break to the extent that he “failed to appreciate the value of life since those with power and money could do whatever they want with other people’s wives, especially the poor in the mode  of the Plaintiff”.

Magaya has 10 days to respond to the summons.
