AB Communications, the parent company of one of the country’s leading radio stations, ZiFm will tomorrow conduct auditions for presenters, reporters, news anchors and producers for Faya FM, their latest radio station.

Faya FM which was recently licensed by the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe to operate from Gweru, is expected to go live in September.

AB Communications chief executive officer, Susan Makore said the auditions would be conducted by ZiFM’s Tonderai “TK” Katsande among other top presenters and management from AB Communications. She said the Gweru search was not confined to presenters as they would need other staff to assist with the manning of the Gweru station.

Tomorrow the scouting team will be at the Midlands State University (MSU) Great Hall before moving to Fairmile Hotel on Saturday. The auditions will be held from 2PM to 6PM.

“The auditions are open to anyone who lives in Gweru as we want people from there to benefit from the new radio station. These auditions are for those people with exceptional radio voices,” said Makore.

She said they were conducting the auditions at MSU as a response to the various inquiries they received from students about the setting up of the radio station.

Makore said their urban radio station — ZiFM would give the Gweru community a taste of the upcoming Faya FM through a party which will be held at Eclipse Night Club. Talented dancehall sound house — Judgement Yard, TK, Tony Friday and Patience Musa will entertain revellers.

Similar auditions for AB Communication’s other radio station — Hevoi FM which was licensed to operate in Masvingo, will be held next month.
