Goals galore in Division One Philani ‘Beefy’ Ncube

A MASSIVE 27 goals were scored in Week Four of the Zifa Southern Region Division One League with the highest-scoring game being a 10-goal thriller between Emakhandeni Pirates and ex-Premiership side Zimbabwe Saints.

Emakhandeni won the high-scoring contest 6-4, getting their goals from Tinotenda Chitate who scored a hattrick, a brace by Passmore Dube and a strike from Nkosiyazi Ngwenya.

The former Premiership giants had their four goals coming from Thembani Nkiwane, Tapiwa Mujaji, Antony Chombo and Newman Shoko. 

It was a sweet first victory of the season for Emakhandeni who are on position 12 with four points on the 18-team log.

By scoring a hattrick, Chitate took his season tally to four goals, one behind leading goal scorer Lameck Mafu of Mountain Climbers. Jefias Sibanda of Main Line also has four goals.

Meanwhile, Talen Vision remain on top spot following their 1-0 win against army side Indlovu Iyanyathela.

Talen Vision are tied on 10 points with electricity generators ZPC Hwange who beat CIWU 2-1 in Bulawayo. Binga Pirates who failed to play their opening two games owing to financial challenges, finally

took to the field, losing 3-0 against Mountain Climbers at Luveve Stadium. 

Last week, the Binga Pirates management launched a “save the club” campaign to mobilise resources. Binga’s management also appealed to the corporate world as well as individuals in and outside the countryto sponsor the team.

Binga Pirates are the first team from the area to play in the Zifa Southern Region Division One League that is made up of teams from Bulawayo and Matabeleland North provinces.

In 2017, little-known Lunda FC from Binga qualified to play First Division football but pulled out due to lack of sponsorship.

Meanwhile, Philani “Beefy” Ncube coached Adachi bounced back to winning ways to edge Mosi Rovers 3-2. Adachi had lost their Matchday 3 encounter against Arenel 1-0.

Adachi are third on the table with nine points.
