Good rains to drive increased demand: Zimplow

AGRO-INDUSTRIAL implements manufacturing firm, Zimplow Holdings, expects positive rainfall season projections to drive increased demand for services and products under its agriculture cluster with Government spending on infrastructure consolidating business growth.

The Group has also commended Government for demonstrating renewed drive towards unlocking agricultural productivity, infrastructural development, and mining.

In a trading update for the nine months’ period ended 30 September 2022, group company secretary Mrs Sharon Manangazira said business was poised to leverage on the potential growth prospects that are presented by the Government’s thrust.

“Central Government has demonstrated renewed drive of late aimed at agricultural productivity, infrastructural development, and the evolution of the mining industry,” she said.

Mrs Manangazira said the segments under the Government’s focus were precisely the markets that the group operates in, hence their business is poised to leverage on the potential growth prospects from such sectors.

“The continued national strategic thrust on infrastructural development coupled with the continued drive-in output growth in the mining sector by the Central Government, bodes well with the group’s logistics and automotives cluster and mining and infrastructure cluster.”

The group is maintaining its strong position to deliver its corporate strategy in the mining and infrastructure segment at a time the country is angling for a US$12 billion revenue mining sector by 2023.

According to the group, the ongoing rainfall season is set to drive the demand for services and products under their agriculture cluster.

According to the Meteorological Services Department, the country is likely to receive normal to above-normal rainfalls with experts warning of possible cyclones.

This has rejuvenated farmers who are hopeful that the forecast will enable them to work hard and reap big at the end of the season.

During the period under review the group, which operates strategic business units – Zimplow Barzem, CT Bolts, Powermec, Farmec, Scan link, Trentyre and Mealie Brand, recorded an 11 percent increase in revenue compared to the year 2021.

“Management shall leverage on increased activity within the fourth quarter of 2022, within the economic sectors that the group operates in, that is, agriculture, mining and logistics in order to achieve improved profitability levels,” said the company.

Under its Mealie Brand unit, the firm said it continues to place considerable emphasis on the export market. To that end, Zimplow is consolidating its market positioning in the Sadc region.

“The company recorded a 26 percent growth in the provision of export implements to its clientele against prior year performance,” it said.
