GOSPEL titan Pastor G and afro-jazz artiste — Dudu Manhenga are set to perform at the Dumisa Music Group album launch on Friday.

The 20-member interdenominational Dumisa Music Group will launch its debut 17-track offering titled Umalusi Wami at the Word of Life auditorium in Bulawayo. The launch will begin at 4PM. One of the administrators of the group, Ezra Nyoni, said they had invited Pastor G and Manhenga as they inspired them after ministering at one of the church’s conferences last year.

“We ministered alongside Pastor G and Dudu Manhenga at a Word of Life International conference last year. They’re very seasoned ministers and their music is diverse, something which inspired us on this album.” said Nyoni.

Other artistes billed to perform at the launch are Audrian, Vocal EX, Encounter and Gospel Unplugged.

Nyoni said Dumisa Music Group’s music was different as all the songs were new compositions.

“For this album, we produced original content, contrary to other gospel groups. All the songs in this album were composed and sung by members from Dumisa,” he said.

The diverse album contains tracks such as Mlomo Wami, God Still Loves, KaJudah, Mina NginguJehovah and Hlala Kimi. The tracks are unique in that they are in different genres ranging from jazz, reggae, mbaqanga, and Ndolwane.

“All 17 tracks are stringed from Psalms 23v1, ‘The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want,’. They talk about the relationship between God and man and how it can be maintained,” said Nyoni.

Defying odds, Nyoni said the album’s DVD will be released on the day of the launch.

“The album will be sold at the launch together with the DVD.”
