A 60-YEAR-OLD woman from Bulawayo’s Entumbane suburb has been arraigned for allegedly severely thrashing her husband’s pregnant small house.

Lillian Ndlovu allegedly confronted Katy Masuku, 38, of Nketa suburb at her house where she whipped her on her protruding abdomen and other parts of the body.

The court heard that Masuku has been staying with Ndlovu’s husband at her house.

“I never assaulted her. I just pulled her by the hair. She has been keeping my husband at her house and I only get to see him when he’s sick. She only wants him when he’s in good health,” said Ndlovu.

Ndlovu appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Tancy Dube facing an assault charge.

Dube did not ask her to plead and remanded her out of custody to May 9.

“It’s embarrassing for an elderly woman like you to be brought before the courts over a petty issue like fighting over a man. What example are you setting for young women out there? You should behave better than this,” said Dube.

Prosecuting, Kenneth Shava told the court that the assault occurred on April 21 at about 6.30 PM when Masuku was at her home with Ndlovu’s husband.

“The accused got into the house holding a whip and charged towards the complainant and assaulted her on the face, arms, and abdomen. She went on to pull her hair,” said Shava.

“Accused’s husband and his son restrained Ndlovu from further assaulting Masuku. She is now suffering from abdominal pains as she is pregnant.”

The prosecutor said Masuku was referred to hospital for treatment and a medical report can be produced in court as an exhibit.
