Delving into the heart of Gwanda South lies the village of Monyatsi, where a burgeoning songstress and dancer, Mmadinalanyana, calls home.
Born Mabaledi Sithole at Manama Hospital, she has embraced her childhood moniker bestowed upon her by her paternal aunt, owing to her spirited nature.

Venturing into her musical journey, Mmadinalanyana, based in Botswana, found solace in traditional music, blending Tswana, Zulu, and Ndebele cultures into her artistry.

Reflecting on her beginnings, she credits Mthabisi Dube, director of Bolamba Culture Birds, for his unwavering support at the onset of her career.

“From a young age, I’ve had an immense passion for singing and dancing. Whether it was participating in school talent shows or choir performances, traditional music has always held a special place in my heart.

“I embarked on my professional music journey in April 2017 and owe a debt of gratitude to Mthabisi Dube, for his unwavering support and encouragement at the outset of my career,” she shared.

Despite financial challenges and the absence of management or sponsors, Mmadinalanyana views each obstacle as a stepping stone toward artistic growth

.

“This journey has been a roller-coaster of emotions and invaluable lessons. While my dream of becoming a musician has materialised, it has come with numerous financial challenges. Each endeavour as Mmadinalanyana is self-funded, but I remain optimistic that as my music reaches more ears, opportunities will abound.

“I’m still in search of a manager and sponsors and I’m confident in my growth as an artiste. I believe that doors will continue to open,” shared Mmadinalanyana.

Her performances at renowned events, such as the Bobirwa Annual Festival and Zimbabwe Independence celebrations at the Zimbabwe Embassy in Botswana, mark significant milestones in her journey.

With notable releases like the “Bophelo” album and collaborations with Bolamba Culture Birds, Mmadinalanyana’s musical trajectory is on a steady incline.

“My portfolio includes the 2020 release of the ‘Bophelo’ album, as well as a solo single featuring Bolamba Culture Birds titled ‘Kgabetsa ngwanaka’ (2020). Presently, I am collaborating with DJ Sly from True Tune Records in South Africa on a new project.

“In addition, I am diligently working on music videos for ‘Bophelo’ and ‘Mogatsaka,’ with the ‘Bophelo’ video, slated for release by the end of March and ‘Mogatsaka’ by the end of April.”

Driven by ambition, Mmadinalanyana aspires to grace larger stages and reach broader audiences, leveraging social media platforms like Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube to amplify her presence. As she tirelessly promotes her music, she envisions a future filled with memorable performances and a growing fan base. – @mthabisi_mthire
