Hit and run Mushikashika driver convicted

A MUSHIKASHIKA driver is facing charges of contravening the Road Traffic Act after he hit a pedestrian and fled from the scene.

In a statement, the National Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said Brighton Ncube 24 hit Bhekizulu Jubane near Khayelitsha Compound in Colleen Bawn on 23 June 2023, while driving a Toyota Wish registration AFF 5038 without a driver’s license.

The pedestrian suffered injuries on his right leg and the accused was supposed to report the case to the police within 24 hours.

“The pedestrian suffered injuries on his right leg. It is a requirement in terms of Section 70 that if a driver is involved or contributed to an accident where a person or animal is injured he must stop forthwith, or supply his particulars to the authorities or report the matter to the Police within 24 hours.”

“He was found guilty and will be sentenced on the 20th of March 2024,” reads the statement
