THREE men from Fort Rixon in Insiza district were arrested for allegedly assaulting a motorist with an axe, machete and an empty beer bottle after he refused to offer them a lift to their homes.

Tinashe Moyo (24), Bhekinkosi Siziba (25) and Jetro Ncube (24) allegedly attacked Mr Kholiwe Siziba inflicting deep cuts on his head, left arm and a swollen right elbow.

The men, who are facing attempted murder charges, were not asked to plead when they appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Joseph Mabeza.

He remanded them out of custody on bail to September 3.

Prosecuting, Ms Caroline Matanga said on June 4 at around 10PM at Msudu Business Centre in Fort Rixon, Moyo and Ncube approached Mr Siziba and asked him for a lift to their homes. “The complainant told them that he was not able to adhere to their request as his fuel was not enough,” said the prosecutor. She said a few minutes later as the complainant was leaving the shop, Moyo followed him and struck him on the head with an empty bottle.

“The other accused persons joined in and dragged the complainant closer to his vehicle where they tripped him to the ground.”—@zinyuke98
