BIG spending How Mine will name their  2015 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season   squad today before starting proper pre-season preparations tomorrow, head coach Luke Masomere said yesterday. The gold miners have been holding their trials since Thursday last week, with head coach Masomere, the self proclaimed Zimbabwean doctor of football, picking up a few youngsters.

Masomere has been ruthless on the transfer market, snatching up seven tried and tested stars at the same time unlocking the exit door to eight senior players whom he found at How Mine last season.

The much travelled gaffer charmed the Highlanders duo of goalkeeper Munyaradzi Diya and striker Charles Sibanda, Dynamos’ Tawanda Muparati, FC Platinum’s Benjamin Marere, Masvingo United’s  Leftara Ndale, ZPC Kariba’s Limited Chikafa and former Caps United skipper Tapiwa Kumbuyani.

Still, the 2003 championship winning coach with now defunct AmaZulu is not done with his assault on the market.

“I’m looking for two defenders but if all goes according to the script, I should be able to pounce on my target by tomorrow (today) so that we start our pre-season preparations proper on Tuesday,” said Masomere.

There are strong suspicions that want-away Dynamos defender Thomas Magorimbo might find sanctuary at the gold miners.

How Mine, led by the youthful Mlondolozi Nkomo as chairman, offloaded Ephraim Mazarura, Caleb Masocha, Mandlenkosi Sibanda, Brighton Dube, Eddie Muzanenhamo, Warren Dube, Emmanuel Mandiranga and George Magariro.

Masomere also revealed that joint Golden Boot winner Kudakwashe Musharu was still their player contrary to rumours that Musharu’s handlers were demanding astronomical fees, the same as talented Young Warriors shot stopper Donovan Bernard.

“We’re keeping Bernard,” Nkomo told Chronicle Sport on Friday.

The gold miners are already championship favourites two months before the season even gets underway but Masomere does not want to get carried away.

“We want to remain modest, our major aim though is to improve on our position from last year. We were eighth and if we go to seventh I’ll be content although we’ll be monitoring events and proceedings at the top very closely,” said Masomere known for his free use of words.
