HWANGE Football Club fans cannot wait for the blockbuster league tie between Chipangano and Dynamos tomorrow and are oozing with confidence that the coalminers will continue with their trailblazing form to silence the current Castle Lager Premier League champions.Whenever the coalminers lock horns with the Harare giants, fireworks are in store. Hwange won the last encounter between the two sides on a day they produced a top drawer performance to clobber their adversaries 4-2 at the Colliery Stadium, the venue of tomorrow’s contest.

The atmosphere in the usually quiet coal mining town is already supercharged for the game and Chronicle Sports took to the streets of Hwange to hear fans’ views on the upcoming blood and thunder clash.

Nguminja Township-based John Ncube, who is without doubt Hwange’s Number One fan at the moment, declared war on Dynamos and was confident the coalminers would pump in more goals.

“We are going to collect three points on Sunday and with a big scoreline. Our team is untouchable currently hence I say to DeMbare there is war waiting for you,” said the charismatic Ncube, who is also popular for his energetic runs along the pitch’s perimeter fence while carrying a big Chipangano flag.

He is also credited with introducing the “Ayifeeeee” chant that has become a hit during Hwange’s home matches.

John Nekatambe of Lwendulu said the coalminers would not lose a home game this year.

“We are going to the stadium for nothing but a win. This year we will hammer them as they come and I have nothing more to add,” he said.

Esteri “Teki teki” Zulu said Hwange are a ball of fire waiting to consume every opponent.

“Chipangano is fire my son, we are going to burn teams this year and tomorrow Dynamos will be burnt without any doubt. We will beat the drums loudly as we cheer on our boys to victory,” said a very confident Zulu.

Soms Zulu from Lusumbami Village predicted a 3-0 scoreline in favour of Hwange.

“I am very sure we will beat Dynamos and continue with our fine run. I can foresee a 3-0 drubbing being handed to the defending champions,” said the soft-spoken Zulu, who added that he has supported Chipangano since he was young.

Milton Dube from Cinderella says he believes in the power of a dream.

“I had a dream in which we thrashed Dynamos 4-0 and my dreams have never betrayed me before hence the party starts way before the game for me,” he said.

Victoria Falls-based Jairos Ngwenya declared that this is Hwange’s year.

“We are going to make history this year by grabbing the championship title but first we need to demonstrate our seriousness by beating teams like Dynamos. The victory margin tomorrow will be big,” he said in a telephone interview.

Hwange FC supporters chairman Gamu Nekatambe was also confident of victory but urged fans to accept any result as football is a game which can go either way.

While the home fans are smelling a good result, DeMbare faithfuls are singing from a different hymn book as they hope their heroes will be able to silence Hwange at home.

George “Zomora” Chivhunga said despite Hwange’s recent fine form against a lukewarm DeMbare show, the Glamour Boys would leave the Colliery Stadium with their tails up.

“I am not worried about the contrast in form by the two teams, Dynamos are coming for a win so that we continue climbing up the ladder to sit where we belong. I am predicting a 2-0 victory for my beloved team,” said the comical Chivhunga.

Munyaradzi Banda from Makwika Village also declared that Hwange are not capable of upsetting the Harare giants.

“Hwange might be in fine form but I do not see them upsetting Dynamos. It’s three points for us as we will burst the Hwange bubble tomorrow,” he said.

His sentiments were echoed by another well known DeMbare faithful Clement “Yellow” Luphahla, a cobbler in the mining town.

“DeMbare are a hurricane my brother, we won’t be stopped by a small team like Hwange. Three points for the Glamour Boys,” he said.

Smith Khumbulani from Mpumalanga was however cautious in his prediction as he disclosed that he was comfortable with a draw between the two sides.

Hwange and Dynamos are currently tied on 19 points each with the Nation Dube-coached team sitting on second position owing to a better goal difference.

Tomorrow’s winners will certainly have a very big say in the destiny of the championship title at the end of this year’s marathon.

The Harare giants are gunning for a remarkable fourth title in a row while Hwange are fighting to ensure the title crosses Gwayi River for the first time ever in local football history.
