HWANGE Football Club unveiled their kits for the 2023 season which they kick-start tomorrow afternoon with a tie against Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium.

The club has retained their traditional colours which are red, yellow and black.

“Great occasion for the club as we unveil the 2023 kit at a colourful ceremony at the Colliery Stadium today which was graced by the club president and executive team, supporters, and the community. The support is massive, the coal embers ready to glow and engulf opponents,” the club posted on their social media platforms.

Chipangano have been forced to play their home game in Bulawayo as the Colliery Stadium failed to meet the minimum standards to host topflight football matches.
Work is however, in progress at the Colliery to ensure that the side soon returns to their own hunting ground.

Hwange are expected in Bulawayo on match day and if that is the scenario, it would mean that Dynamos will arrive in the city before Chipangano.

Dynamos will feel at home at Barbourfields Stadium as they are set to command more support on the day. Already, Dynamos fans have organised to congregate at a Bulawayo hotel before a road show to the stadium.

Playing home matches in Bulawayo is not the only compromise Hwange have had to make as they were forced to rope in Nation Dube because initial head coach Bongani Mafu doesn’t have the pre-requisite Caf A licence required for one to be in charge of a team in the Premier Soccer League. Mafu has a Uefa B licence.

Former captain Felix “SaNicky” Chindungwe, has since retired to assume the role of kit manager.

The experienced midfield duo of midfielder Thabani Goredema and Cannan Nkomo have been retained by the club including striker Ernest Gwitima.

The club also signed Copa Coca-Cola product Tendai “Shumba” Muvuti, a 19-year-old former Mpopoma High School pupil who shined at the schools football competition in 2019. Last year, Muvuti, who has already featured in Chipangano’s pre-season friendly matches, was in the books of Bulawayo Chiefs where he was not given game time.

The young attacking midfielder joined Chipangano as one of the junior players together with the club’s junior team graduates Attitude Munsaka, Quinton Longwei and Proud Anesu Richard. The club also roped in Claivert Tshuma who previously turned out for Dynamos.  — @innocentskizoe
