The defensive stalwart who received a national team call up at the weekend is a free agent.
If he makes the grade at the Bosso, he will be the first big signing for a club so desperate for good and experienced players. The Bulawayo giants are looking at reclaiming their place as one of the country’s best soccer clubs.
Moyo, together with tough-as-teak defender Gerald Ndlovu and midfielder Andrew Chuma, had a fallout with the Caf Confederation Cup-bound Hwange leading to the trio opting to seek greener pastures elsewhere.
Chuma and Moyo are said to be free agents while Ndlovu’s case is believed to have invited the intervention of one of the local chiefs.
The trio were sacrificed by the club late last year after players complained about bonuses for a good season.
The above players were pivotal in leading the coalminers to a top four finish in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League last season.
Ndlovu was Hwange’s captain.
A source close to the players said all the three players were interested in joining the Bulawayo giants.
“The guys failed to solve their differences with the club and they were left with no option but to leave. The club in a bid to cover up for the irreconcilable differences, rushed to say the players have been suspended but the truth of the matter is that the three wanted out of the club.
“From the way they were talking, they all look set for Highlanders. They should be coming down there to try their luck,” said the source.
The experience that the former Hwange trio has might go a long way in ensuring that Bosso who finished seventh last season strongly challenge for the championship and other silverwares.
Moyo, who was once in the University of Pretoria books, can be played anywhere in defence and can also be used as a defensive midfielder while Ndlovu, good in the air and on the ground, is comfortable on any part of defence.
Highlanders, who promoted juniors to the senior team, need to beef up their team to ensure that they have quality players capable of delivering.
Should they manage to impress gaffer Kelvin Kaindu, the coming of the trio to Highlanders is likely to be a boost for the club that lost one of their longest serving members Gilbert Banda to FC Platinum.
Bosso also lost Castle Lager Soccer Star of the Year finalist Rahman Kutsanzira, Louis Matawu and goalkeeper Lovemore Makwavarara to Caps United, FC Platinum and Shabanie Mine respectively.
In a telephone interview from Hwange yesterday, the coalminers’ spokesman Burzil Dube said the trio was free to look for jobs elsewhere.
“We have given them transfer letters but any club interested in the players must negotiate with us. Actually it is the players who requested that they wanted to move on and as a club we do not stand in players’ way if they want to leave,” Dube said.
The latest development means that the three players will not be part of Hwange’s squad that leaves tomorrow for their weekend Caf Confederation encounter against Jamhuri of Zanzibar. There are a number of players trying their luck at Highlanders with ex-juniors goalkeeper Josphat Sibanda who was at Tripple B last season and former Motor Action utility player Milton Ncube eyeing contracts.
Bosso is believed to be targeting striker Simon Njeleza who was released by FC Platinum and should the move materialise, he will reunite with Ndlovu and Chuma whom he played with at Hwange.
