INTWASA Arts Festival koBulawayo’s premier attraction – Women, Wine and Words – will be showcased to Harare audiences tomorrow at Theatre in the Park.

The show, a full on celebration of creative women through music, poetry, theatre and art, has been staged at the Intwasa festival for the past five years and has been a hit among festival goers. This event has clearly been admired by Harare’s leading theatre venue – Theatre in the Park through Rooftop Promotions who have partnered with Intwasa to stage the show in Harare.

The event will kick off with Sunrise Yoga in the serene Harare Gardens as well as an Afro Dance class.

There will be two stages – one with a flow of powerful panel conversations and poetry, while the other will offer music as well as a competitive She Open Mic for the aspirant female performers.

The evening will culminate in a concert of sorts featuring the remarkable talents of Hope Masike, Vera and DJ Noma that Girl.

Intwasa Festival director, Raisedon Baya, expressed his excitement.

“As Intwasa, we’re excited about the partnership and spreading Women, Wine, Words outside Bulawayo.

“We hope this new move will bring more awareness and hopefully attract more partnerships for the Intwasa festival,” Baya said.

Theatre in the Park highlighted their intention to open the space to younger and often marginalised creatives.

“This partnership with Intwasa Festival has made it possible for us to co-create the Harare edition of the Women, Wine Words. We’re glad to be a part of the showcase and believe it’s a great opportunity to celebrate both budding and existent female creatives across the country and beyond,” said Stephanie Kapfunde, Theatre in the Park spokesperson.

The Women, Wine, Words in Harare comes at a time when Intwasa organisers are preparing for the Intwasa Extra that will run from December 27 to January 1. This will serve as a festive season festival bonus prepared especially for regular festival audiences and those that missed the September fiesta.
