THE Zanu-PF National Chairman, Cde Simon Khaya Moyo, has adopted a 12-year-old boy from Matobo District and pledged to cater for his educational expenses up to university level.
Cde Khaya Moyo announced his decision to adopt Prime Ndlovu, a grandson of the late nationalist and National Hero, Jason Ziyaphapha Moyo, during a Zanu-PF Provincial Co-ordinating Committee meeting for Matabeleland South in Gwanda Town on Saturday.
Prime is a Grade Six pupil at Whitewaters Primary School along the Bulawayo-Kezi Road and stays with his grandmother at Dema Village in Ward 17 under Chief Malaki Masuku.

His mother is the daughter of the late J Z Moyo who was the second Vice President of Zapu who was killed by a parcel bomb in Zambia on 22 January 1977.

He was reburied at the National Heroes Acre in on 11 August 1981.
In an interview on Monday, Cde Khaya Moyo said he was touched by the boy’s amazing poetic talent during one of his visits to the district during the election campaigns.

“This boy has such a wonderful poetic talent. His poems are well researched and politically correct. After his wonderful performance in one of my rallies I requested that he showcases his talent at our meeting in Gwanda,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.
“Earlier on we had discussed the issue with my wife and resolved to take over the payment of his school fees and provision of learning material up to university level.
“Above all I felt the need to do this in honour of our hero, the late J Z Moyo.”
Cde Khaya Moyo said it was the duty of all leaders to consider the plight of the needy in society.
He urged the party leaders in the province to come up with a record of the less privileged to make it easy to come up with ways of assisting them.
“It is the duty of all of us to assist the needy in our midst. I have tasked our leaders in the province to identify the needy and come up with a list so that we can find ways of assisting them.
“Some of them are orphans while some have parents who are not able to pay fees. As the leadership and the party we cannot just watch and do nothing about such people,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.
