ZIMBABWE-born artist Mitchell Ndebele is setting new standards and proudly representing her country in neighbouring South Africa, where her career as a content creator is flourishing.

Affectionately referred to as Khiwa or Mitney Mitch, Ndebele is crafting high-quality, visually appealing content that consistently enthrals her extensive fan base. She has indeed conquered social media, engaging with thousands of admirers who are enchanted by her creative output.

“I do these things for fun but it has grown to provide a platform for potential business through promotions, ads, collaborations and much more,” she said.

Khiwa emerged as one of the pioneering female creators to delve into the Tshovatshova/Rhumba genre with the advent of TikTok. Her prominence has surged remarkably.

“I do various kinds of content. The liking to Rhumba was due to the rarity for a woman to create content for the genre. Many people from other countries were learning about it from me, so I went international with it and in the line of content I created,” said Khiwa.

Khiwa’s pioneering role in the Tshovatshova/Rhumba space on TikTok has inspired a wave of content creators to embrace this niche. Her robust support network plays a pivotal role in her sustained success.

Beyond content creation, Khiwa’s talents extend to acting, poetry, emceeing, presenting, modelling, and comedy. She featured in the South African short film “The Reckoning” by Trudy Mamthombeni, which clinched the title of Best International Short Film at the People’s Film Festival. Moreover, she earned the accolade of Best Female Lead at the UMgungundlovu Awards in KZN.

Fuelled by her passion, determination, and ambition, Khiwa is poised for extraordinary achievements, continuing to elevate Zimbabwe’s presence on the global stage.

“At the moment content creation is not paying much but with time it will. The pendulum is shifting to accommodate a global market, and of course #AGlobalKhiwa.”

Loyal to her homeland, she holds profound esteem for its emblem. The arts are a significant factor in the nation’s development, and positive representation on the international stage is undoubtedly a commendable endeavour.

“My aim, God willing is to fly our flag high in the best way I can,” she said.
