The Jamaican singer is expected to touch down at the Harare International Airport at 9.20pm.
Kingston will be accompanied by at least eight people including DJ Hype T, who will be behind the decks.
The chubby singer will be staying at the Meikles Hotel where according to Clint Robinson, the organiser of the concerts, he will be treated to Zimbabwean traditional foods.
“Sean Kingston sent us what is known as a technical rider, basically a list of the things that he would like us to provide. And on that list he didn’t ask for anything out of this world or what we can’t provide.
“However, for those that we couldn’t find locally we told him that we could provide alternatives.
“So we are hoping that he will eat sadza and everything that is truly Zimbabwean,” Robinson said.
He said as far as the preparations were concerned C&A Entertainment, his promotion company, had put everything in place.
“We are not saying that our concerts will be the best but at least we have tried to reduce hiccups because we learnt from past mistakes.
“It’s just that Zimbabweans are not used to buying advance tickets but it would have been better if they had done so for security concerns.
“We really thank the Zimswag guys for opening doors for Zimbabweans to do shows like this and we have learnt from them. At the moment we praying that God willing Sean Kingston arrives tonight for the gigs,” he said.
A welcome party will be hosted at Fusion Nightclub in Borrowdale tonight and the official after-party will be held at the Nelson Mandela Hall at the Glamis Stadium.
“For his first show at the Celebration Centre gates will open at 1pm and the first performance is by TNT at 2.30pm. Sean Kingston will grace the stage at around 7.15pm and perform for one hour and 15 minutes but depending on the crowd’s response, he might go for a bit longer than expected as most international performers do.
“Then on Saturday, gates will open at Glamis Stadium at 12pm but the first performance will be at 3pm sharp,” he said.
A Press conference for local artistes will be held at Meikles Hotel today starting at 12pm.
Zimbabwean musicians Winky D, Stunner, Sanii Makhalima and Cindy Munyavi will top the bill.
“This is to give local artistes the respect they deserve just like their international counterparts. We want them to say that Sean Kingston came and shared the stage with them and not the other way round,” Robinson said.
He however, admitted that the concerts had reached the home stretch and ready for entertainment galore.
“This is a nerve- wracking moment for me, in fact most promoters go through the same phase. I am having sleepless nights over this event because as the promoter you ask yourself many questions. But at the moment we can’t say a lot of negative stuff since we are hoping and praying for the best,” he said.
According to Wikipedia, Sean Kingston was born Kisean Anderson on February 3, 1990 and is a Jamaican-American singer.
He pursued a music career and debuted in 2007 with a self-titled album Sean Kingston. He moved to Kingston, Jamaica, when he was six and he attended high school in Ocho Rios.
His grandfather was the noted Jamaican reggae producer, Lawrence Lindo, who worked under the stage name Jack Ruby. At age 11, Kingston spent 21 days in jail for housebreaking and lived in a car while his mother was incarcerated for identity theft.
Sean Kingston was discovered through MySpace by Tommy Rotem at Beluga Heights, and signed to the label in a partnership deal with Sony.
Beluga is a label notable for its focus on discovering and developing artistes.
In an interview with HitQuarters label head and producer JR Rotem described this process with regards to Kingston.
His latest studio album, “King of Kingz”, is out.
The lead single was confirmed to be “Dumb Love”.
The song is also featured in a episode of The Suite Life on Deck which Kingston guest starred in. The album also features T-Pain, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, Wyclef Jean, Akon and Dr Dre.
The follow-up single from the album is “Eenie Meenie” featuring Justin Bieber, released on March 23, 2010, which is also included on Bieber’s “My World 2.0” album.
This collaboration with the young star has been the source of much disapproval from the rap community.
The other single from the album is “Letting Go (Dutty Love”, which features a verse from Nicki Minaj.
It was released on iTunes August 3, while the third is “Dumb Love” and was released on iTunes September 8. Sean Kingston’s new song “She Moves” samples Irena Cara’s “What a Feeling” from the film Flashdance.
A fourth single “Party All Night (Sleep All Day)” was released on December 21, 2010.
The song leaked online in December last year and the video was released on December 23, 2010.
