Letters to the Editor: Still waiting to get feedback from police

P Mandati Nkulumane, Bulawayo.

Editor: Sometimes one wonders why law enforcement is taken for granted, to the extent of wanton negligence, downright lack of compliance and respect. l will not hesitate to point to lack of professionalism. There is a case that was brought to Nkulumane Police Post in August 2017.

Constables Tsvangira and Takura were the arresting officers. An lcrisat employee, a Mrs Mhlanga (nee Gumbo) was the complainant. The accused was Ngwenya. The two constables needlessly locked up Ngwenya for five hours thereafter “cooked” a false crime in order to get change from what was the stipulated fine for the real crime.

After a complaint was raised the officer-in-charge asked for three reports from the  two constables and accused. A sergeant was assigned to look into the issue but up to today there has been no feedback! What then should happen in these circumstances? Of course, l would advise the wrongly accused to approach Zacc for assistance, we are tired of cases that are stubbornly left hanging in order to frustrate justice!
