AFTER months of preparation, KeYona TV is on the cusp of launching its television station and South African singer Makhadzi is set to be the guest performer at the event to be held at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Hall 4 on December 17.

KeYona TV’s CEO Dr Qhubani Moyo

KeYona TV will be the newest addition to the line-up of television stations licensed by the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (Baz) last year. The other six channels are Jive TV, Shasha, Dandaro, Sports 263, ZBC TV and ZBC News 24 and they will be available on both Digital Terrestrial Transmission (DTT) and Direct to Home (DTH).

KeYona TV’s CEO Qhubani Moyo said the event will mark a milestone for them.
“Being able to launch our television station is awesome! It’s a historic moment for the people of Bulawayo and Zimbabwe. We never imagined that there would be a private commercial television station broadcasting from Bulawayo. The station is going to be a platform to celebrate our diversity in a collective search for solutions that make our lives as Zimbabweans comfortable.

“The station is going to be both an entertainment and news channel harnessing abundant talent from Bulawayo and across Zimbabwe. The launch will be public where we’ll celebrate as a collective and be serenaded by music from our local acts who’ll be backed by the daughter of Africa, Makhadzi.

We are grateful to the Second Republic for opening media space to enable a multiplicity of voices and talents to be heard,” he said.

At the event, dubbed the “Kings and Queens Festival”, Makhadzi will perform alongside Asaph, Clement Magwaza, Ma9Nine, Fab G Umshanakagogo, Msiz’kay, Mzoe 7 and Boocy.

Moyo said they have been working closely with Transmedia to test the signal strength so that when the station officially goes on air, there will not be any glitches.

Zimbabweans and Africans across the continent will enjoy KeYona TV using Azam TV platform and the Zimbabwe Digital Terrestrial Transmission (DDT) platform.

Among the TV shows that will be aired on KeYona TV is Madlela Skhobokhobo and Novuyo Seagirl’s new series titled Deported. – @eMKlass_49
