Man granted protection order against ‘molested’ daughter

A MAN whose daughter claimed he molested her and infected her with HIV, has dragged the woman to court seeking a protection order.

There was drama when the elderly man shouted in court that his wife cheated on him and he discovered after a paternity test that the woman who is in her early 30s is not his biological daughter.

“My wife got pregnant and lied that I was the father only to find out after DNA tests that she is not my daughter,” he shouted angrily.

The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his HIV-positive daughter, on Friday told Western Commonage magistrate Mr Urgent Mvundla that his daughter was violent and often threatened to knock out his teeth. He did not deny abusing the woman.

The man said his daughter was angry at him for refusing to stay with her child who was born out of wedlock.

The complainant said he needed a protection order against her as she had become verbally abusive.

Denying her father’s allegations, the woman said he rushed to court seeking a protection order because she had threatened to report him to the police.

She said her father destroyed her life. “My father sexually abused me when I was young. I was forced to run away from home and I went to stay with my ex-boyfriend who got me pregnant. I begged my father to stay with my child because of the economic situation but he refused,” she said.

The woman said her father received lobola money from another man without her knowledge and squandered it.

“When I was away in Botswana, my father received lobola from a man who is not even my boyfriend and forced me to stay with him,” she said.

The magistrate granted the protection order and advised the woman to seek counselling. “I’m granting you this protection order for the safety of your daughter. I’m warning both of you to stop threatening and abusing each other,” the magistrate ruled. — @sharonbuwe
