A Gweru man who had his theft charges dropped by a local magistrate expressed his relief in the most unusual manner when he soiled his pants.
The man, Innocent Nemaruru, 40, stunned the whole court when he soiled himself after he was told to stand up by magistrate, Mildred Matuvi, as she wanted to announce his fate.

Eye witnesses said Nemaruru was a first offender and was appearing before the courts for the first time in his life.

The eyewitness said he could have panicked and soiled himself owing to the unfamiliar surroundings.

“The complainant filed an affidavit that Nemaruru be released since he had been in custody and when the magistrate asked him to stand up fear overcame him and he soiled his pants only to learn that the theft charges against him had been dropped,” said the witness.

Circumstances surrounding the matter are that on February 13 this year Nemaruru went to the complainant, Edison Dube’s house and asked for his guitar.

The court heard that he did not return the guitar as promised.

It is said that Dube had to go to Nemaruru’s house to ask for his guitar and was told that Nemaruru’s friend took the musical instrument and failed to return it.

The court further heard that Dube then reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of Nemaruru.

The guitar is valued at $150 and was not recovered.

Prisca Kanukamwe appeared for the state.
