MANUNURE High School will represent the Midlands province in the Arenel national soccer finals after beating Guinea Fowl 1-0 at Zvishavane High School yesterday.

It was a sweet revenge for the Kwekwe school, which lost to Guinew Fowl in the Copa Coca-Cola finals last week.

Liberty Masvaure scored the winner in the 89th minute after collecting a pass from Jonathan Phiri.

The goal sparked wild celebrations among thousands of fans, who thronged Zvishavane High to witness the football fiesta.

Victor Moyo, Justice Malunga Jonathan Phiri, Tinashe Murisa and goalkeeper Douglas Pikirayi were outstanding for Manunure as they kept the Gweru based team at bay.

“We were equal to the task and I’m happy that we revenged for our Under-16 team in the Copa Coca Cola cup. We are not a small team like Guinea Fowl as we were the national champions in 2011,” said Manunure coach Solomon Matsika.

Manunure beat Nyangombe 3-0 and Cheziya 1-0 before losing to Chiodza after fielding a second-string team since they had already qualified for the semi-finals.

They went on to beat Guruva of Mberengwa to qualify for the finals.

Bulawayo and Harare will be represented by Mzilikazi and Marlborough High.

The national finals will be held at Prince Edward High from July 31-August 2.
