NOMADIC former How Mine coach Luke Masomere has still not been hired by any club three months after parting ways with the Bulawayo-based gold miners and famously declaring that he would be back in a fortnight. Masomere left as How Mine head coach towards the end of September and revealed a few days later that another Premier Soccer League side was seeking his services and he would bounce back in two weeks’ time.

However, Masomere yesterday said talks he is having with the PSL side are likely to bear fruit in January. “There’s nothing tangible at the moment. They had said they would meet me on December 17, but they then told me the meeting will be held before the end of the month.

“I’m not sure what will transpire but we’ve communicated,” said Masomere. He said talks with the team he declined to name started soon after his resignation from How Mine after the club asked him to send them his CV.

“I’m waiting to hear from them to sign the deal, but I won’t pre-empt the arrangements we have as the team doesn’t want them to be made public as I’m not their employee yet.

“All I’m doing is waiting for their call just before New Year, which is around the corner,” Masomere said. He has been watching football matches from the terraces since parting ways with How Mine following a series of poor results.

The gold miners ran out of patience with the much travelled coach as the club had one of the most expensively assembled sides in the PSL at the beginning of the season, but they were not able to challenge for honours.

Jerry Makote and Usheunesu Chaka were appointed as co-coaches, but they too failed to rescue the gold miners’ poor season failing to win any match up to the end of the season.
