Motor Industry Pension Fund elects trustees

THE Motor Industry Pension Fund will hold board of trustees’ elections for Matabeleland region this week after completion of the same exercise in Mashonaland last week.

The pension fund recently circulated nomination forms to all its members in Matabeleland and Midlands regions requesting employers and employees trustee nominations to fill the vacant board posts arising from the expiry of the terms of office for the incumbent.

The outgoing officers from Matabeleland are Reggies Sibanda and Witness Ncube (both not seeking re-election) and Passmore Matupire who is seeking re-election.

Phillemon Mushore of Classic Cars Bulawayo has emerged as the only qualified nominee for the Matabeleland region (employer trustee) and has accepted the offer for the next three years subject to Insurance and Pensions Commission (IPEC) approval.

“However, the following nominees will go ahead and contest in the forthcoming elections as outlined below for Mashonaland region (employer seat) and Matabeleland region (employee seat),” said the Motor Industry Pension Fund, in a notice.

Nominees for Matabeleland region were Samuel Khumalo of Toyota Zimbabwe (Bulawayo), Ray Mhembere of Engen Magwegwe, Keith Moyo of Fisher Motors in Bulawayo and Zenzele Sewetshe of Elite Motors in Bulawayo.

For employees in Matabeleland region specifically in Lundi, Bubi, Beitbridge and Gwanda, elections would be conducted today and tomorrow at the workers’ work stations.

In Bulawayo, elections will be conducted on Thursday at the Motor Industry House boardroom.

The nominees for Mashonaland were Yeukai Gatsi of Toyota Zimbabwe (Harare), Passmore Matupire of Lorraine Service Station in Harare and Joel Mushangwe of Autoways, also in Harare.

“Employers will only vote once for their employer representative and employees will also cast one vote for their employee representative,” it said.

The Mashonaland region votes opened on March 30, 2015 and closed on Wednesday (April 1, 2015).
