FORMER Highlanders coach and Caps United assistant coach Mkhuphali Masuku has been tipped to become Dynamos’ assistant coach if Taurai Mangwiro moves to DeMbare as widely believed. Mangwiro resigned last week as Caps United coach, cutting short his three-year contract at the troubled Makepekepe side. Sources say he has already reached a pre-contract agreement with the Glamour Boys who were left leaderless after history-making coach Callisto Pasuwa resigned under unclear circumstances.

Pasuwa resigned after leading Dynamos to an unprecedented four titles on the trot. He, however, left a bitter man after accusing chairman Kenny Mubaiwa and his executive of not being supportive enough.

He said they always wanted him out.

Mangwiro and Masuku are close friends, having worked together at Caps United although they both left unceremoniously.

They are also under Grassroots.

“Don’t be surprised to see Cooper turning blue if Mangwiro is appointed DeMbare coach, which is almost imminent now. Cooper and coach Tau are very close friends,” said a source.

Despite Dynamos having advertised for the job, whose deadline for applications is next Monday, sources close to the Harare side told our sister paper, The Sunday Mail that coach Tau is the first choice.

“Tau is a good coach, and a Dynamos son. Unless something goes horribly wrong, he will be our coach next season. If you’ve a good eye, take a look at the players we’re pursuing … do you think we’re just going after players without getting advice from somewhere?

“No, there’s something happening behind the scenes,” a DeMbare official told The Sunday Mail.

Dynamos have reportedly agreed terms with the Caps United trio of right back Hardlife Zvirekwi, Dominic Chungwa and Kelvin Bulaji while Bosso’s midfield maestro Felix Chindungwe is also reportedly on their radar.

Masuku worked with Chindungwe while at Chicken Inn.

Other coaches that have been named as possible replacements for Pasuwa are former Bosso coach Kelvin Kaindu and former Warriors head coach Ian “Dibango” Gorowa who played for Dynamos in the 1990s.
