TWO of the city’s most promising Castle Lager Premiership wingers Timothy January of How Mine and Highlanders’ Knox Mutizwa are due to travel to Maritzburg United for trials in two weeks’ time.Two members of the Kadodia family, the owners of the club are said to have flown into the city on Sunday.

Maritzburg United is home to Terrence Mandaza and Khumbulani Banda who has settled well in a utility player role.

A source last night disclosed that Maritzburg were impressed with Banda and Mandaza’s work ethic and were eager to add more Zimbabweans to their personnel.

Warriors striker Cuthbert Malajila once turned for the side as did David Mkandawire and Dominic Sithole both of whom turned out for AmaZulu FC who are now defunct.

“They’re keen to take January and Mutizwa initially on trial in the next two weeks.  They’re impressed with what they’ve seen of the duo and want to see if they can fit into their style of play hence the trials,” said the source.

Renowned football player agent Gibson Mahachi is expected in the city this morning to meet the South Africans and the two players’ respective clubs.

Efforts to get comments from both clubs and Mahachi were fruitless last night.

A Chronicle news crew was not allowed in at a lodge in the city’s periphery where the Kadodias are believed to be staying.

The two could settle well at the modest club because there is not much pressure for the KwaZulu Natal-based outfit.

Mutizwa is a member of the Zimbabwe Under-23 team to play Morocco on Sunday.
