INSURANCE service provider, NicozDiamond Limited, has channelled about $2,1 million towards medical supplies to Entembeni Old People’s Home in Bulawayo as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) spending.

The donation was handed during First Mutual Golf cocktail event held recently in the city.

“In line with the company’s CRS programme, NicozDiamond identified a need at Entembeni Old People’s Home for various medical supplies, which were procured at the value of $2,1 million,” said the company in a post-handover public update.

Entembeni is a retirement home located in Bulawayo and was established in 1967. The facility currently accommodates 32 females, 26 males, 10 permanent staff and 14 volunteers.

NicozDiamond said over the years its CSR focus has covered several areas including health, upliftment of girl child, albinism, cancer patients, old people’s homes and disadvantaged children in various provinces of the country.

The company is a member of First Mutual Holdings Limited and also supports the group’s CRS programme, which impacts positively on the future of young Zimbabweans with educational assistance and necessary additional services to reintegrate them into formal school as well as support for tertiary education.

This is being conducted through First Mutual Foundation whose objective is to promote and raise the standard of living for the less privileged by availing them the opportunity to attain education.

This year the group launched a First Mutual Africa University Scholarship facility for disadvantaged students based on humanitarian need and academic excellence and is assisting six students for a period of four years on this programme.
