Oskido promises Christmas gig to remember

Dubbed One Night Stand Christmas with Oskido, the gig is the multi award winning star’s second home coming party in the city after putting up a feisty performance at Horizon Pub and Restaurant last December.

In an interview, spokesperson of X-Mo, organisers of the show, Nkululeko Nkala said preparations for the gig were at an advanced stage.

“It’s all systems go and we are just waiting for the day so that we dance the night away with the music guru,” said Nkala.

He said Oskido had promised a top of the drawer performance.

“He is set to play all night and has promised a never seen before set which will see him play tracks from back in the day to his latest album  I believe , which is making waves on the airwaves across the continent,” said Nkala.

Fondly known as Oscar “Warona” (meaning “ours”), the music guru, is the 2012 Channel O Music Video Awards Special Recognition award recipient.

Channel O said the producer, music industry entrepreneur, DJ and songwriter, was being recognised for his unparalleled contribution to African music since the early ’90s.

Oskido who is one of the co-founders of Kalawa Jazmee Records needs no introduction to house music fans in the country as he is known for his chain of hits from back in the day.

As producer, Oskido stands above most of his contemporaries and is seen as having kick-started the current trend of remixing classic South African pop hits when he and Sebitlo reworked Mahlathini and the Mahotella Queens’ Melodi into Meropa.

He has also been pivotal in discovering new talent in the form of the likes of DJ Zinhle and Black Motion.

He would be backed by the popular Ballers League and comic socialite Babongile Sikhonjwa who would be doing what he knows best as the Master of Ceremonies at the gig.
