Oxide Boys crowned Ama2000 dance challenge winners

DUO dancers, Oxide Kids which has members Methembe “Oxide Jnr” Moyo and Namalanga “Choice Oxide” Moyo walked away R500 richer after they were crowned the winners of the Ama2000 dance challenge.

Hailing from the streets of Nkulumane, the Oxide Kids who recently starred at the Bulawayo Arts Festivals as poets outshone the Bright Stars and Crazy Movers who took position two and three respectively and walked away with R350 and R200.

Other dancers who participated were Letty Group, Mbongeni Netha, Mega Boyz, Top Virus, Single Banda, Pumula Junction and P.J Smart Crew.

Commenting on their win, the Oxide Kids said: “We’re happy to have won. We’re thankful to our parents Desire Moyoxide and Ester Zitha for allowing us to do our own creative works and follow in their footsteps.”

The two kids who seem destined for greater heights have featured on platforms like the Bulawayo Arts Awards, Bulawayo Arts Festival, National Arts Council and National AIDS Council where they have staged scintillating performances.

“As we await schools to open, we’re keeping ourselves busy through participating in arts activities,” said the duo.

Last year, Oxide Jnr performed for the President in Bulawayo and also won the Albert Nyathi poetry contest.
