DANCER cum singer Sandra Ndebele, Iyasa, Hwabaraty and Mzoe 7 will headline the Creative Diversity and Social Inclusion (Credisi) concert as the concept moves online after Covid-19 shut down all social gatherings.

The show will be held on May 29 from 8.30PM on the CITE Zw and Iyasa Facebook pages. DJ Jay B will be on decks.

The platform, brought about to revamp Youth Centres in Bulawayo and bring artistes closer to their audience, was launched last year. Each event was being held at the end of the month.

However, because of the global pandemic, Credisi along with other events were cancelled as a way to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Nkululeko Dube the brains behind this said they had shifted online as they were moving with the times.

“It was meant to promote activity in city council spaces within our communities then Covid-19 came about. Essentially there’s nothing happening there. So, we thought to bring it online as this is where people are now,” said Dube.

He said they wanted to have more shows on the Credisi platform.

“The shows for now will follow the same vein as when they were not online, at the end of the month. However, we want to have more shows.

“We are saying that lets take advantage of this new space, the internet, that isn’t being utilised. There’s a lot of criticism on how artistes are using the interment to present their works. This is a new thing that’s why we partnered CITE Zw as they have an audience that we can tap into,” said Dube.

He said in between performances, there will be an online discussion to see the way forward for Credisi and the arts post Covid-19 lockdown.

“The discussion wants to bring in the city and artistes to discuss what is the way forward post Covid-19 lockdown. How are we going to use these spaces (Youth Centres) as there has been little dialogue about this,” said Dube. – Follow on Twitter @bonganinkunzi
