TEACHERS at Sibangani Primary School in Lupane have fled the institution claiming goblins sexually abuse female educators at night, authorities have confirmed.

Villagers said pupils haven’t been attending classes since schools opened more than a fortnight ago.

Teachers, they said, abandoned the school after females would repeatedly wake up without their underwear or with signs that they had sex overnight.

The goblins reportedly started terrorising the school situated east of St Luke’s Hospital in Daluka area last term in May and villagers have now sought the services of some prophets popularly known as Wafa Wafa from Tsholotsho to cleanse the school.

The villagers said only the headmaster, Mr Alistair Moyo, remained manning the school while others including five female teachers sought refuge at Lupane Centre.

“Everyone is concerned about what is happening at the school. The goblins started terrorising teachers last term and female teachers would wake up without panties.

“Reports were made to every responsible office and when schools opened this term, children were told to return home because there were no teachers and up to today there is only the headmaster,” said a villager.

It is alleged that teachers would hear strange sounds at night but would not see anything.

In the morning they would wake up without their panties. Sibangani Village head Mr Jeffrey Ngwenya said Wafa Wafa prophets were in the village to cleanse the school.

“There are no female teachers at the school and they are now living at the District Education Offices. As we speak we have invited oWafa Wafa and people are gathered waiting for the ceremony,” said Mr Ngwenya.

He said villagers were eager to know the owner of the suspected goblins.

“Women at the school wake up naked daily. Everyone wants the goblins to speak and reveal where they came from,” added Mr Ngwenya.
Matabeleland North Provincial Education Director Mrs Boithatelo Mnguni confirmed the school has not opened for the third term.

“The community has mobilised resources to have a cleansing ceremony and we will wait to see what happens. We hope that the whole process will be handled well,” said Mrs Mnguni.

She couldn’t be drawn into giving further details about the fate of pupils some of whom should be writing Grade Seven final year examinations next month.

Last year teachers at Siyangaya Primary School in Tsholotsho fled the school claiming to be abused by a baboon which would have sex with them at night.

Another school in the province, Nengasha Primary School in Hwange has failed to open for the third term after a Mrs Zhou who took Grades One to Seven and doubled as the headmistress, failed to turn up for work. -@ncubeleon
